Question: Why is it that sometimes small thin scratches can appear in the glaze?
If you stack the plates on each other, this might make the fine scratches in the glaze surface. Usually the scratches are in the center of the plate which indicates that the plate has not been set centered in the pile, but placed obliquely in the stack and then slid into place. It is the friction between the glaze and the foot ring and the weight that rests on the foot ring are the factors that cause scratches. Therefore we recommend you to stack them one by one on top of each other.
Do this to avoid scratches:
– Use rinsing or surface active agents in the dishwasher. Pålsjö Fajans porcelain can be washed in the dishwasher, but if you want to keep them in good condition for a long time, you should userinsing or surface active agents. It reduces friction and avoid unsightly scratches on your plates when you stack them on each other.
– Do not handle wet plates. Clean water increases the friction between porcelain surfaces.
